Madeira – Havsfågeltur30 maj-6 juni 2021
Madeira denna fantastiska portugisiska ö kommer under en vecka att vara skådeplatsen för resan med Fågelguidning AB. Fågelmässigt är det många spännande arter som finns på ön, vissa till och med bara på denna ö. Fokus kommer till stora delar att ligga på fågelskådning till havs, men vi kommer även att hinna med ett besök på en av Madeiras många vingårdar.
Tempot kommer att var lågt/medel och det kommer att finnas väldigt goda fotomöjligheter av havsfåglar under veckan.

Day 1 – Arrival + Transfers to White Waters hotel in Machico
Dinner at the hotel
Zino’s Petrel Night Expedition (depending on the arrival time, otherwise we run it on day 2)
Day 2 – 9:00 – 18:00 – Full-day land birdwatching to West Madeira (São Vicente, Porto Moniz, Ponta do Pargo, Ribeira Brava) to look for endemic bird species (lunch included)
Dinner at the hotel
Day 3 – 9:30 – 12:00 – Half-day birdwatching East (Ponta São Lourenço, Caniçal – to look for Rock Sparrows)
Lunch at the hotel
15:00 – Departure from Machico harbour for approximately 3.5 hour chumming and drifting to watch Zino’s Petrels, Bulwer’s Petrels and Cory’s and Manx shearwaters. Light meal (a sandwich, a snack (cereal bar or piece of fruit or cookies) and a slice of quiche) included. Drinks are on your own.
21:30/22:00 – Arrival to Machico harbour
Day 4 – 9:30 – 12:30 Levada walk Ribeiro Frio-Balcões
Lunch at the hotel
15:00 – Departure from Machico harbour for approximately 3.5 hour chumming and drifting to watch Fea’s Petrels, Madeiran Storm-petrel and White-faced Storm Petrel. Light meal (a sandwich, a snack (cereal bar or piece of fruit or cookies) and a slice of quiche) included. Drinks are on your own.
21:30/22:00 – Arrival to Machico harbour
Day 5 – Free morning
Lunch at the hotel
15:00 – Departure from Machico harbour for approximately 3.5 hour chumming and drifting to look for any missing seabird species from the days before and also for Wilson’s Storm petrel and, if we’re lucky, Barolo’s shearwater. Light meal (a sandwich, a snack (cereal bar or piece of fruit or cookies) and a slice of quiche) included. Drinks are on your own.
21:30/22:00 – Arrival to Machico harbour
Day 6 – Free morning
Lunch at the hotel
15:30 Madeira wine tasting in Camara de Lobos and some sightseeing of the vineyards landscapes
18:30 Farewell Dinner (the typical ‘espetada’ – cubes of beef in a laurel skua)
Day 7 – Free day to spend on Madeira
Day 8 – Transfers to the airport
